About Lake Effect:
Lake Effect Radio is an internet streaming
broadcast station owned and operated by Lakeland Community College. With the studio located on the Lakeland main campus in Kirtland, Ohio, Lake Effect Radio operates on a non-stop schedule with an effective radius all over the world.
Among these is delivering a unique and diverse radio programming that serves the college, community interests and tastes. Lake Effect Radio attempts to meet this goal by offering a variety mix of music, sports, informational, and public service programming that is not found anywhere on the dial or internet.
Another of the station’s key functions is to provide an opportunity for students to gain real-world experience, networking in an ongoing media production, events and delivery process. All day to day management and operations are performed by student managers and directors voted by their peers, with the help of the DJ staff.
The station is operated under the students of Lakeland Community College, is overseen by the Department of Student Engagement & Leadership and two faculty advisers,
and reflects the College's belief that the best way for students to learn is by doing and being involved.
Our mission:
Lakeland's Lake Effect Radio, a student-run radio station at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. Lake Effect Radio broadcasts music and entertainment to the students on the 2nd floor of Breakers at the Lakeland Community College main campus, and online at www.lakeeffectradio.org. Lake Effect announces, and produces commercials for, campus events and programs sponsored by the many clubs at Lakeland. We also advertise for outside businesses, organizations of Northeast Ohio. They interview student organizations, entertainment veterans, local artists, local bands, companies, organizations and businesses. Lake Effect won Lakeland Student Activities Student Organization of the Year Award for the 2013-2014 and 2017-2018 academic year.
